Australian Comedy @ The 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Edinburgh Festival Fringe is just around the corner, and in 2024, there will be no shortage of Australian comedy. The Fringe is a melting pot of creativity, attracting performers and audiences from around the globe. Australian comedians have carved out a significant niche for themselves. Known for their distinct humour and storytelling, these performers bring a fresh and dynamic energy to the festival.

This year sees over 100 Australian comedians take to Edinburgh stages. Among the anticipated highlights and after sold-out seasons at this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Fisk star Aaron Chen’s Funny Garden makes its debut. For the first time since winning the Edinburgh Comedy Award, Hannah Gadsby’s new show Woof will feature at Underbelly. Josh ThomasLet’s Tidy Up will no doubt be a winner, fresh from Taskmaster AU Jenny Tian introduces the UK to Chinese Australian: A Tale of Internet Fame and Rhys Nicolson debuts their brand-new, hour-long concert, Huge Big Party Congratulations.

Plus, the wonderful Josh Glanc debuts his brand-new show Family Man, whilst Alexandra Hudson’s Fringe debut explores her experiences as a disabled woman. The ever-popular Reuben Kaye and his big band finally bring the highly anticipated Live & Intimidating to the UK! Sashi Perera pushes cultural limits to find peace with Boundaries, and the legendary duo The Umbilical Brothers return with their previously sold-out The Distraction.

But it doesn’t end there, also hitting Fringe is Pinder Prize winner Bronwyn Kuss, Most Outstanding Show Nominees Lou Wall and Oliver Coleman, as well as Aidan Jones, Alex Hines, Annie Boyle, Jordan Barr, Damien Power, Emma Holland, Geraldine Hickey, Grace Jarvis, Greg Larsen, Hot Department, Impromptunes, Lewis Garnham, Mel & Sam, Michelle Brasier, Nick Schuller, Randy Feltface, Tom Ballard, Tom Cashman, Zoë Coombs Marr and the list goes on!

With such a diverse lineup, there’s something for everyone, ensuring that Australian comedy remains a highlight of the Fringe. From seasoned award-winners to fresh new faces, the contributions of these performers will undoubtedly enhance the festival's rich tapestry of entertainment.
