Winner Theatre & Performance Award 2025 Perth Fringeworld

Logie-winning actor Rob Carlton returns to Melbourne International Comedy Festival in his five-star 2025 Perth Fringeworld award-winning hit, WILLING PARTICIPANT.

In this one-hour show Rob tells four true stories: sexual taboos, big lies, deep heartaches and blind hope. With stories from his 20’s to his 50’s, this world-class storyteller reminds us what it is to feel alive! Directed by theatre and comedy legend Darren Gilshenan, you’ll laugh and cry and laugh again and leave in love with the world.

"Sublime storytelling. Heartwarming, funny, insightful and poetic!" Wil Anderson

“Just superb!" Michala Banas

“Hilarous and profound!” Trent Dalton

The four stories come from different times in Rob’s life:

Early 20’s: Rob investigates the rights and wrongs of cousin love; his best mate got caught.

Mid 20’s: Rob’s employed to fly across the world and onto a film set as a continuity expert; but he isn’t one.

Early 40’s: After the passing of his father, Rob sets out on a bike ride… with his dad on his back.

Late 40’s: Searching for a mid-career pivot, Rob steps into the highly competitive world of musical theatre – but can he sing? Find out about this and all the others in this gorgeous, funny and totally true show.
