Takashi Wakasugi

Comedy Samurai

  • Japan

Winner Directors' Choice Award 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2023
Nominee 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Award for Most Outstanding Show

As seen on the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, Comedy Up Late, Thank God You're Here, Question Everthing & Taskmaster Australia.

Japanese comedy boy Takashi thinks stand-up comedy is similar to samurai.
You are always alone on the stage. Kill or die. Better to be sharp and quick but also think about the space and the distance. It looks simple but is complicated. Thinking a lot but pretend to think nothing. Sensitive and timid like a cat but solid and fearless like a large cloud. The spiral of gratitude, respect, despair and suffer.

A samurai tries to make his body and his sword one. Takashi tries to make himself and his jokes one. He puts his life and passion into this comedy show. Please don’t miss any strokes of his jokes and souls.

'Exquisite stand-up.' ★★★★ Chortle (UK)

'Abundant pleasure... It’s a genuine joy to be insulted by him.' ★★★★ The Scotsman

'Funny, clever and insightful.' ★★★★ ArtsHub

Suitable for audiences 15+

Language – occasional coarse language
