RAW Comedy 2024 on SBS Viceland and SBS On Demand this July

Monday 15 July, 2024

RAW Comedy is the place to see the future of Australian comedy. So, for those who weren’t able to catch the RAW Comedy National Grand Final at the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival (and those who were that want to relive the action!), it's coming in all its hilarity to SBS Viceland and SBS On Demand later this month.

RAW Comedy is the largest and longest-running national open mic competition in Australia. For almost three decades, RAW Comedy has provided a platform for budding comedians to ascend to new comedic heights, one punchline at a time. Past competitors include Anne Edmonds, Hannah Gadsby, Ronny Chieng, Celia Pacquola, Matt Okine, Becky Lucas, and Aaron Chen (just to name a few).

The 2024 final was recorded live on Sunday 14 April at Melbourne Town Hall, hosted by radio presenter, comedian, and bubbly bundle of joy Concetta Caristo, with 12 emerging acts from across the country competing to win the RAW Comedy crown.

‘The talent in this year’s cast totally blew me away.’ Said host Concetta Caristo. ‘Literally not a dud in the lot – they were each hilarious and unique and had so many good jokes!!! Obsessed.’

The 2024 RAW Comedy national finalists are Aaqib Merchant (VIC), Suma Iyer (ACT), Nathan Chin (NSW), Cam Muratore (VIC), Omar Gad (NT), Stella Kappos (SA), Stephanie Hare (TAS), Kiyanosh Sahebi (NSW), Jaimeson Gilders (QLD), Dylan Murphy (VIC), Jazz Bing (WA) and Stella Wu (NSW).

These 12 finalists were selected from almost one thousand budding comedians from all corners of the nation who registered to compete across a total of 61 heats and finals.

RAW Comedy 2024 airs on SBS Viceland on Monday 22 July, 8.30pm, and will be available to stream on SBS On Demand.
